Nisshinbo building up business for fuel cell components

Nisshinbo Industries is looking at increasing its production capacity for moulded carbon separators for stationary polymer-electrolyte fuel cells consumed in the Japanese market.

Moreover, the Tokyo, Japan based company intends to broaden its fuel cell operations by creating a catalyst for application in fuels cells, designed to replace the standard platinum catalyst.

The company expects to build another production line for moulded carbon separator at its manufacturing facility in Aichi Prefecture, Japan, in Oct 2008.

Nisshinbo is due to hand down a decision in Feb or Mar 2008.
The company is in the middle of expanding its production capacity for fuel cell separators by about twofold from the 2006 level to 4 M units/mo. Full capacity operation at the expanded facility is anticipated by the end of 2008.
